Hi everyone,
This is my first post to this site. And until I found this place I thought I was the only one who obsessed about roundbacks.

My question is about the 1779-USA custom legends (with the USA flag painted on). I wonder if anyone can tell me how many of this model were/are made? I emailed Ovation and they replied that there were 75 of the 1777-USA models made, but they were unsure of how many 1779's were produced. However, they then added that if I were patient, they could make me one.
This makes me think that the 1779-USA models are still being produced and are not really as limited as I first thought. Does this seem right?
By the way, when I receive the adamas III I bought on ebay, I will post what I think. peace from boulder, colorado, michael

Welcome fugot

There was a nice discussion of these guitars not long ago, opinion was generally good about them and they are not still being produced.

I suspect you will have some replies here shortly from someone who has one, meantime welcome to the board. The search function works well here if you want to try entering the model number.

I believe Rick Hall told us at the last tour that they will still make them if they are ordered.

Greetings and welcome to the OFC website. I bought a CL 1779-USA through Al P. about three months back and absolutely without a doubt one of the finest, best looking, best playing guitars I have ever owned or played. I highly recommend it as both a personal, stage or any other reason to purchase guitar. The USA flag paint job is fantastic and I have gotten many compliments on it with no negative feedback. Al P. without a doubt is a fair guy and will give you the best price and service on an Ovation or any other guitar for that matter. My CL 1779-USA is also pictured on the Ovation Photo Gallery if you are interested, Play On!

Hi, Thanks all for the welcome. It is so cold here in boulder, colorado, the dogs don't even want to go outside.
I believe the 1779-usa model that I recently purchased will be sweet when it arrives. Unfortunately, I bought based on emotions and a low price without doing my homework. It was advertised as a limited editon of 50. But it is not, according to ovation company itself.
So I am confident I can return the guitar, when it arrives, based on the false description it was sold under. (I'd like to think the seller was careless, not intentional deceitful). But do I want to return a custom legend with a sweet paint job??? probably not, but other guitars call me also and they are not free either. thanks for all help and as my sad story illustrated; research before buying. foolish but happy, peace mike
