How are those AlaskaPiks??
(With the exception of my thumb) I've been having a hard time keeping my nails long without breaking 'em lately. Thought I'd give 'em a try . . |

Location: Yucaipa, California | I love 'em...can't play without them... even on the banjo! ...is your address still at Freeman Decorating Company? I have that address... I'll send you some...mediums or large? I use med on the index and large on the middle (3-finger Scruggs style) and a National thumbpick... |

Location: NJ | Thanks Tim, but I'll just pick some up at GC (or wherever) . . .
I've got weird-sized fingers, and I don't know how their med's./lrg's run.
I fingerpick with 3 fingers plus my thumb, but I've got a pretty big (and fairly lethal) thumbnail.
thx! |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | hi tim. i just got back from california and what was the busiest trip in recent memory. i rec'd the picks and the same day sent you something and a note. did you get it? i will be trying out the alaska pics in the next few days but realize that i need to have a little longer fingernails to make them work. i think my fingers are thick for their length from many years in the metal smithing business.
i was hoping to make it to the alaska pic booth at namm, but never did, and needed at least 2 more weeks to begin to start to see the things of interest at namm. the show is awesome and overwhelming, and as i found out, a great place to get the latest version of the oriental flu, now finally on the wane. i am going to look for a namm thread and add a few more comments. as usual the projects seem to stack up while i'm gone and i am really behind now. anyone got a SPARE 12 hrs a day they would like to sell me? LOL
thanks again tim, for the picks. i think they will be interesting to use though a little heat gun work might be necessary to nake the smaller ones work. maybe someday we will have a chance to do a little picking together. |

sorry i missed out on saturday, but i was coming down with what seemed like the flu. still managed a full day on sunday, but sat at 6pm i had hit the wall. a mexican cell phone just ain't happening in california. maybe i need to find a better option for my visits to the usa.
the party you had for us on thursday was great, and i enjoyed the 10 instrument jam session. thanks to all of my ovation amigos for making the namm show a really great experience. i had 350 pounds of baggage when i returned. also had something on my shoes at the airport that triggered the gas chromatograph or spectrophotometer they use, and i had more than a few badges paying close attention to me. bummer. hope i don't wind up with a profile in the risk database.
might be back next month, paul. with different shoes! |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | any pizza would be better than here in mexico where catsup (super sweet here) is sometimes used for sauce. i asked for a vegetarian pizza in guanajuato and got a plain pizza with a salad dumped on it and served with thousand island. black angus even better yet!! ya comin' too al? |

although I would love to, the last time I was at moody's I set back my recovery 3 months, I just don't have that kind of time to devote to my health so I will pass for pizza at paul's |

Location: Midland, MI | Is Black Angus that chain of steakhouses? I ate at one when I was out in the SF Bay area and I was still a smoker. No smoking indoors, so I had to go outside. A woman was walking by, carrying a little girl, who was maybe about six or seven years old. The little girl watched me for a bit, then looked at the lady and says, 'Mommy what is that man doing?' The mom looks at me, gives me a glare that could melt steel and says to the little girl, 'He's killing himself and everyone around him.'
Now, WTF is that all about? The only people within an easy 20' of me were two other people smoking! Cheese and rice, some people are just over the edge. I took a drag, and as I exhaled I said, loud enough for her to hear, 'Yeah, I'm suicidal, I'm just not in a hurry.' That got me another withering look and she picked up the pace.
Of course that has nothing to do with anything, other than it happened outside of a Black Angus. Some people's kids... |
