I have been noticing for the last few days the site sometimes gets very slow...sometimes takes minutes to load a page. Then the next time I log on it is fine. Is anyone experiencing this or should I be looking for something at my end? Other sites seem to be loading ok.
I did download Internet Accelerator from My ISP which is supposed to speed up internet surfing...maybe it is causing the opposite effect on this site.

That's good to know...I probably come here more than I do any other site (except for EBay!) and it drives me a little nuts when it crashes in the middle of checking the new posts...I need a life!

Just got this error:

Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'

Script timed out

/nav.asp

The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.

FYI to any admins that might be lurking about.

I'm glad it's not just me. I was about to bitch at my ISP. Sometimes I've had to click on a link several dozen times before it would load. It's been getting slower for some time now.
I'm glad you're on it Miles, thanks!

Yes

I have experienced this last night and the tonight, last night was atrocious, tonight not so bad. It was as if someone was attacking the site with a computer denial of service attack, where they use multible computer generated access attempt to deny others access.

Do we have any enemies who might try this? If so, why?

Bailey

PS
Don't they realize that an attack would leave a back trail a mile wide for our resident PI and computer freaks, many people like that are now fending of potential lovers (penetrators) in Federal Penetintiaries.

I've noticed the site to be VERY slow several times per week. I often get "timed out" errors while pages are trying to load.

Still really slow off and on and gets period CGI errors on the screen.

Now I know how an addict feels when he is deprived of his daily fix!

This is sheer torture!

Still working on it. You will notice it's either basically stopped, or running normal. Not much in between. There is a process on the server, that they are trying to find, that is killing the software engine that we need for the forums.

Finding the culprit is a bit hit'n miss but I am getting updates that there is progress.

All the more reason that Members need to post more pictures!

When the Forum is down we can still look and be "productive"!

Open the pod bay doors HAL.
HAL...Please open the pod bay doors.
Daisy....Daisy...give me your answer do...

Site is acting funny. Sometimes won't log in...sometimes can't post...sometimes does not show recent posts. I'm not complaining, I just hope it might help.

Did you know that HAL's name comes from adding one letter to IBM?

Well, you see, Miles, it's like this...it's really easy to identify the cause of the problem. It's that software that starts with an 'I' and ends in an 'S' and has another 'I' in the middle. Now, if you talked the swerver people into moving off that toy OS/swerver and on to something like Slowaris or AIX or even that upstart Linux, running something stable like Apache, well, we wouldn't be seeing these problems.

:D

(just razzing)

Just a word to say the site is great even in slo motion. Do the best you can and we will hang on and help if we can.
