Below is a message forwarded to me by a band mate that was orginally sent to Ovation. Their response was that the pre-amp was made in Korea and that they do not have access to the schematics. Does anyone here have any insight?

Thanks.

> A member of a group I'm in has two guitars, a Strat and an Ovation Celebrity CC057, S/N 90xxxxx. When he switches between the two, the Celebrity is extremely louder and requires a lot of adjustment to get the volume down to match the Strat with its passive pickups.

>
> If not, it there a way to wire something on the jack to alleviate this condition? I'm competent with soldering and general removal and replacement
of electrical parts but I don't know how to determine the values and a wiring diagram for any additional components.

It might be easier to use some sort of active DI box or pre-amp to boost the signal of the Strat to match the Ovation. I have found that the signal from most of my Ovations (other than the LX) is quite a bit hotter than my other guitars.

Welcome to the board Chops!

John gave you some good advice....probably the cheapest way to go with it also.

They also make guitar cords with a pot built into the jack . . . . he could attenuate the signal down with that. . .

On the side of the Celebrity there's a volume control. Turn it down.

I use one of these.

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guitar/search/detail/base_pid/151369/

You can set it up for one input and one output then use the footswitch to switch between three preset levels (straight through, the green knob level and the red knob level).
