Muriel Anderson sure does:

Kaki was highly honored to be asked to play at Muriel's All Star Guitar Night at last month's NAMM Convention.

Best to all--

No disrespect intended, but who is Muriel Anderson?

A neverwasbeen who now gets groups of players together for these round table like concerts. The story goes it started around a pool at some Nashville hotel and each person took a turn playing one of their tunes. A croud gathered and enjoyed it. A light bulb went on. It was Muriel's. These can be interesting depending on who is there. They can also be stimulating as a card game at a rest home.

I'm off to the fingerstylist tomorrow for tips and gloss. Since it's V-day, I might go whole hog and get the pedi as well.

I don't know who Muriel is but she seems to cover a lot of the world. The harp-guitar convention blows me away. Ranks right up there with the key-tar and the midi-tootsie-roll-bank we saw at NAMM.

Nice to see Kaki get some pub.

It is rare that I disagree with cwk 2, but this is the exception that proves the rule. One of the most interesting things about this Board.

Muriel Anderson is one of the greatest guitarists America has ever produced, imho.

She is the first woman to have won the National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship. That alone would make a distinguished career, wouldn't you say?

But she has gone far beyond that, and taken fingerstyle worldwide for over a decade. My daughter Kaki grew up with Muriel's music playing in our home.

I do agree that the All-Star shows she produces at NAMM can vary from dynamite to just so-so. That has certainly been my experience.

But her credentials? Joe Bob says check them out:

I have seen several of the all star gatherings.
some of the all stars play the same tunes over and over and over and over.
some of the matchups and jams are just awful.
I have seen some stellar performances also.

Dave, Feel free to disagree. I will not debate you or argue this point. I will also not change my mind. Now there are two points of view stated here. Others will have to come to their own conclusions and that's a good thing.

i have a problems with muriels ethics... while teaching at the national guitar workshop in nashville with muriel, sha asked my good freind jody fisher, one of the worlds finest jazz guitarists to perform st the all star guitar night a winter namm... jody was extatic and i was very excited for him... she completely blew him off... for a guy like jody, this is quite an honor.. you can mess with me, but never mess with my freinds... i thought she handled that very badly, and i lost respect for her.. i also dont think its a great idea to name a charity after yourself... just my 2 cents..

Gosh Matt, I kind of liked the self named charity thing. I was just about to announce my new "Willard's 12 String Legend Fund" and see how things went. After all, I am a POOR guitar player so it seemed appropriate.

I never heard of murial (I guess that's a good thing for me, she sounds like a bit of an operator, whenever I've dealt with one, I feel like I was used. On the other hand, to an outsider, the user looks look like they got something done.) I have to say though that kaki king is great so whatever happened with Murial I don't care.
