I just got a copy of the 20th Century guitar magazine with Nancy Wilson on the cover. Is it just me or does she look completely different?

One of two possibilities: If she's looking
"better", it's because you're getting older. If she's looking "older", it's because ... well ... she is. Dave

Nancy has got to be in her mid 50's by now.

Bill, can you post a pic of the cover?

That's beyond my paygradem that posting stuff. I figured the aging was a factor but this is more than that. The nose and cheeks are differentm bigger, not in a bad way, just different. There are more pictures inside and it's not a weight thing (looks like Ann lost some as well).

Her face isn't as narrow and "chiseled" as it used to be . . a little wider/rounder . .

. . still looks good, tho . .

Hey!
I just noticed that they listed a review of the Eastman "John Pisano" model . . .

There's this little "By Appointment Only" shop in my town that sells nothing but Jazzboxes (and mandos) and they have a lot of Eastman's on display.

Anybody know anything about them? . . .

Next thing, we'll find out she like little boys and she has some rare skin disease that's turning her skin black?

A touch of Prednisone, perhaps for some age-related arthritis, would give her that "fuller" look.

I saw Eastman instruments for the first time at the Shanghai show back in October. I could be wrong here but I think the name "Eastman" is a badge used by the USA marketing/design company, who have the instruments made in a very old Chinese Violin factory. They really know what they are doing, the materials & workmanship are stellar, the tops & backs are carved by hand, not pressed or CNC'd. They make mostly acoustic archtops & electric archtops with floating pickups, very much traditional jazz boxes. They also make killer F-style mandolins. None of them are cheap. Just goes to show what the Chinese can produce when price-point isn't a factor.

I guess looking at Cliff's picture it sure looks like the same woman on the 20th cover. Brown hair down sure looks different from blond hair up.

Ann is almost 55 and Nancy almost 51. Still look great. They're not going to look like kids anymore. In many ways, they look much better.

I'd still ... ah, never mind. Call me a perv but as I get firmly entrenched in middle agedom, I find the prospect of Star and Kitty somewhat appealing. Dave

I don't know about Star and Miss Kitty, but Nancy Wilson can have me any time she wants me.

But only with my wife's approval, of course.

So, is that a wedding band, or a mini-slide, on her left hand? Jeez, I'm such a wet blanket.......

I wasn't EXACTLY talking about her hair either... Although... it does look good. Frankly, she looks better now than ... say ... 15 or 20 years ago. Interesting, huh?

Paul T and Cliff,

There's an article on the chinese made guitars in March's guitar player. All hand made, and it explains why they look the way they do.

Eastman began constructing archtop guitars in late 2001, building on Bob Benedetto’s classic designs—which isn’t surprising given that the Chinese luthiers’ introduction to guitar crafting was via Benedetto’s instructional manual and video.

http://www.guitarplayer.com/story.asp?sectioncode=12&storycode=4739

They seem to coming to USA in a big way with value for money. Hard not to resist.

You also have to take into consideration that there was close to a 20-year span between those pictures . . .

The Eastman guitar in the pic that I posted goes for $1,700.
Not bad.

Nancy must be pretty strong to hold that Les Paul up like that. Those things are some heavy. She is still a very pretty lady, and I use to love to see her jam on stage with her Adamas guitars.

One of Nancy's sons ran across the stage to deliver Ann's flute to her between songs during their concert near Detroit last summer. 5-6 years old looked about right for him.

Nancy had red streaking in her hair last summer, also. Guess she got tired of it.
