Hello,
I have realy enjoyed reading the threads on this forum for the past few weeks they have actualy helped me decide to try and learn to play.

Millenium ago, back around 1981 I purchased a used ovation with an aluminum neck, it was really great for the use it endured. I gave it to a buddy and his ex-wife eventualy decided to use for something other than a musical instrument so, no more Ovation.

I went to the local GC and since I can't really play good enough ,I had the sales guy play some of their stock Ovations ,(They really love that they have a captured audiance, snazzy little riffs)I would have bought from GC but they just didn't want to deal maybe I should have waited till the end of the month kinda like car sales.

After much reading and listening I orderd(Nuked) an S771-4 from Music123 using their 6 months no interest no payments I figured thats not a bad deal provided you pay it off in the 6 month time frame. Anyway the guitar should be here tomorrow I'm just a little concerned with how Music123 packages their shipments some of the comments from past posts have me a bit concerned. Also, I noticed that the newer S771's have the LX neck hope the one I'm getting is like that(The Music123 sales guy said they recieved the S771 being shipped 12/04).
I also have a used 1127-4 s/n M-926 that I have been plucking for the past few weeks, it's pretty nice, just showing it's age, kinda like me.

Mike

Mike-

Welcome to the Club. And your new obsession...er, hobby! :) I'm am happy to see that your existing O and the one you ordered are both -4, natural finishes. The truly enlightened O-nuts know that the natural finish is the OneTrueColor.

Or something like that.

:D

When you get the new one, you'll have to take some pictures and put them in the gallery for everyone to see!!

Thanks for the Welcome feels good. I recieved the S771-4 today. I have kinda mixed feelings about it but overall it's nice.

1. This S771 is of the older style without the LX style neck oh well, just means it's not of very current production.
2. The binding around the bowl is exstremely sharp at the edges, I find this to be almost in an unfinished state it should of at least had a slight break to the edge i'll have to look into this.( maybe some one else who recently purchased a S771 can comment)

But, as I said overall It's nice. The wood has good character nicely finished, and most important the guitar sounds very very good, even considering the strings especialy the B has what apears to be dicoloration probably corrosion. The ease of play is great, much better than my 1127, I have a feeling the Glen Campbell is going to get some work.
I also noticed that since the fret board is not bound like the 1127 I can feel the edges of the frets just the small difference between top of the line and bottom.

Mike :)
